| The story
behind "UNITED WE STAND" by Artist Ron Atwood |
![]() |
| Following the tragedy on
September 11, 2001, Artist Ron Atwood, like most Americans,
wanted to do something to help the victims and their families.
He decided he could make his contribution with his talent in
art. He shared his idea with his art class at David Wade
Correctional Center in Homer, LA, where he teaches one night a
week. The class also wanted to do something to help. But being
incarcerated, they were limited with what they could do. Ron
asked them to be involved with one of the most important art
pieces he had ever painted. With pride and enthusiasm each
inmate gave his own special contribution to the cause by
painting a star and a stripe on the flag in the painting. Ron
and his art class are proudly sending all the proceeds from the
sale of the print to the New York Firemen.
